From the Hawaiian Islands’ historic North Shore, Tracey Goodell has made history herself as the first woman from Hawai'i to be awarded the rank of Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This mother of three keiki, Tracey has actively competed in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and grappling events around the world and is ranked amongst the top ten women in her division.
Tracey embodies our core value of Ho‘okuleana (An action or mindset “to take responsibility) as she balances her time as a Mom and competitor while also teaching and coaching jiu-jitsu as the co-founder of Free World Jiu-Jitsu with her partner, Black Belt Jordan Gomez.
Earlier this month, Tracey took home the Gold Medal at the World Master IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championships in her weight class, and the Silver Medal in the Open Weight Class. This was her first IBJJF World Championship as a Black Belt, where she previously she won the Silver Medal at the World Master IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championships (2019) and the Bronze (2018).
Earlier in Tracey's career, she won the Gold multiple times at different events including the prestigious CBJJ Brazilian Nationals as a Blue Belt in 2010 and winning both the Pan-American Championships (Blue) and World (Purple) Championships that year as well. Tracey has also been an active competitor in the Fight to Win series, where she was 125 lb. Championship (2019).
